The Kuwaiti Coast Guards launched on Saturday a joint exercise with British Royal Marines (aboard the Royal Navy ship HMS Monmouth) which focused on intercepting any terrorist operation or smuggling activity at sea. Chief of Naval Operations for the Coast Guards Captain Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah assured that the Coast Guards - through this exercise - proved that they are the bulwark to any attempt to penetrate Kuwait's territorial waters and that they would ably prevent those tempted to tamper with the security of the country, KUNA reported. Captain Al-Sabah said that these exercises will continue on a regular basis according to plan so as to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the United Kingdom and the State of Kuwait. Today's exercise is part of the Ministry of Interior's (which oversees the Coast Guards) efforts to raise the level of efficiency in the performance of field work by members of the Kuwaiti Coast Guards and the British Royal Marines.
