A plane successfully carried out an emergency landing in Indonesia Thursday, injuring one of its 51 passengers. The pilot brought the ATR 42-300 aircraft down in a rice field in East Kalimantan on the Indonesian part of Borneo after developing engine trouble, dpa quoted officials and media reports as saying. The plane was en route from Berau district to Samarinda, the provincial capital of East Kalimantan, on a flight operated by the private Trigana Air Service, Transport Ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan said. According to information received so far, all the passengers were safe, Ervan said. Local media quoted an airport official in Samarinda as confirming that a female passenger was taken to hospital to be treated for a broken leg.
