Palestinian and international human rights activists have petitioned the United Nations to stop the construction of a museum on top of a Muslim cemetery in Al-Quds, according to AP. Campaigners said that the planned Museum of Tolerance would disturb centuries-old graves. Rania Madi of the Palestinian group BADIL said activists have exhausted their efforts in Israeli courts. She told reporters in Geneva on Wednesday that campaigners are now turning to the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights for help. Any response from the U.N.'s top rights official would be symbolic and not legally binding. The Simon Wiesenthal Center is building the museum and said that graves won't be affected as construction will occur on a site that already contains a parking lot.
