Luxury German carmaker Mercedes-Benz said today strong demand in Asia and the US resulted in worldwide sales jumping by almost 25 per cent in January, according to dpa. Some 67,000 Mercedes cars were sold in January, a 24.3-per-cent increase over the same month last year. Part of the Stuttgart-based Daimler group, Mercedes-Benz Cars, which includes both Mercedes vehicles and the compact urban Smart car, posted a 16.6 per-cent rise last month.
