Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Asir Region, received here today Dr. Khalid bin Ahmed Bubshait, President of the Saudi Ports Authority accompanied by a number of officials on the occasion of concluding studies of establishing a seaport on the coast of Asir Region, mandated by a specialized working group. During the reception, Asir Governor reiterated the importance of establishing such a pivotal project in the region which will shore up the region capabilities in various areas including security, economic, and developmental aspects expected to contribute to the upgrading of maritime services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The President of the Saudi Ports said in press statement after the meeting that the assigned teams comprising of experts and consultants visited a number of potential sites on the coastal line, studying the terrain, the movement of trucks and lines extended to the existing ports in Jeddah and Jazan and the importance of these lines to determine the path of Asir proposed seaport. The presence of the industrial capabilities in the region will contribute to the rapid implementation of the port which will link between the region and the world and provide business opportunities and job creation for the region's citizens, he added.
