Police seized seven tonnes of cannabis hidden in a truck carrying fruit from Morocco to France via Spain in one of the biggest such hauls in France, Reuters quoted a police source as saying today. France's anti-drug trafficking unit stopped the truck on Sunday on its way to a large wholesale market in Rungis, south of Paris, and arrested seven people, the source said. It was the biggest haul of cannabis destined for the French market, though in 1999 a much bigger shipment of 23.5 tonnes was discovered on a trawler off the northern port of Calais for delivery to Britain. The seven people who were arrested include two French citizens, four Romanians and a Portuguese citizen, the source said.
