Four Afghan soldiers were killed in a friendly fire incident with NATO-led coalition troops Saturday, UPI quoted officials as saying. Afghanistan's Defense Ministry said in a statement it "wants to bring those responsible to justice" for the early morning incident, in which additional Afghan soldiers were wounded. Statements from NATO's International Security Assistance Force indicate the shooting began around 3 a.m. in the Sayyidabad district of Wardak province. Defense Ministry spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that U.S. Special Forces soldiers were on the way back to their base after completing an operation with Afghan soldiers when the shooting broke out. "They thought they were insurgents and opened fire on each other," he said. "It was all a misunderstanding." Meanwhile, an incident in eastern Afghanistan has resulted in the deaths of two U.S. service members and a U.S. employee, military officials said. An ISAF statement said an investigation of the Friday incident was under way but provided no other details.
