Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja patronized here today bid opening ceremony of Radio transmitting license for a number of consortiums competing to win the first privet FM transmissions license. The final results showed that Alf Alf consortium was the first licensed consortium who offers a total amount of SR 75 Million. Initially, 15 bids have managed to meet the requirements according to the specifications book in the first phase of competition. the consortiums has passed all through to the next phase which consisted of 2 parts, the financial solvency and finally the bidding, said Dr. Riyadh Najm, The Undersecretary of MOCI for engineering affairs. At the end of the ceremony Dr. Khujah pointed out that 4 more licenses remained for the bidders, reiterating that rehabilitated consortiums who have completed the terms and conditions established by the ministry to enter into competition. However, all the four upcoming bids will be held with new offerings, and the licenses will be awarded to the high bidders. Meanwhile, The Minster said the New Media City that has been announced recently is under study, It is a dream that it comes true, the minister added With regard to satellite channel licenses, Dr Khujah said, two days ago, the Ministry has started licensing a satellite broadcasting station. He pointing out that from now on No Saudi-based channel cannot go on air unless it licensed from the Ministry of culture and information. It is worth mentioning that, Alf Alf Alliance, Al-Jazirah Newspaper Alliance, Rotana Alliance, Al shams Alliance, Al Arabiah & ART alliance, Ghayat Al Ebda Alliance, Fal Alliance, , Electronic Resources Ltd Alliance, Nour communications Alliance and AlWataniah advertising and publishing Alliance competed in winning the first Fam radio license.
