Technology giant IBM today reported strong quarterly profits of 4.8 billion dollars, a 9 per cent jump over the same period in 2009, according to dpa. Sales advanced 0.8 percent to 27.2 billion dollars, Bloomberg financial news service reported. The company cut costs in the period by 5.1 per cent, helped by a 58 per cent reduction in interest expenses. Sales of consulting and business services however declined by 2.8 per cent, to 4.58 billion dollars.
