U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton traveled to Papua New Guinea on Wednesday. With the world focused on the earthquake disaster in Haiti, Clinton also hopes to highlight a renewed U.S. commitment to aid and development assistance to the world"s least developed nations. Clinton has pledged U.S. offers of both civilian and military humanitarian help for Haiti after a strong earthquake hit the poor Caribbean country late Tuesday. During her brief visit to Papua New Guinea, Clinton also will highlight the Obama administration"s commitment to environmental issues, including climate change.
