The Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Abdul-Aziz bin Mohieddin Khoja stressed that the Ministry does not seek to place any restrictions on the local press, but it aims to expand press freedom, urging the press to verify accuracy, to keep away from personal criticism of any official or person, or to downplay the services being provided for all members of the society. In a monthly meeting organized by Saudi Journalists Association (SJA) here on Tuesday, Dr. Khoja looked forward to constructive cooperation of the press and its personnel on distributing news on the Kingdom"s manifestations of progress and developments and on highlighting the constructive role being played by the leadership of this blessed country at various local, Arab, Islamic and international arenas in line with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier. He said that the local press has managed to make a leading position in Arab and Islamic countries as well as in many countries of the world, expressing his confidence in Saudi Journalists Association and calling on it to move freely in its works and activities at local and external arenas, pointing in this regard to the formation of the Association"s Board of Directors fully through election without appointment of any members by the ministry in accordance with the regulation. --MORE
