Dr. Rawiyah bint Saud Al Busaidiyah, Oman"s Higher Education Minister received here today a Chinese academic delegation led by Lee Chen-Sheng, Professor of Economics and Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Financial and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing, Professor Chang Xiangyang, CUFE Deputy Director and Professor Wang Ruihe, CUFE Dean. During the meeting, Dr. Rawiyah expressed the Sultanate"s interest to expand cooperation fields with the Chinese side particularly after dispatching Omani students to study at CUFE in China. She also pointed to the possibility of teaching the first Chinese language (Mandarin) at one of applied colleges in the Sultanate, arranging students exchange programmes, deputizing specialized Chinese teacher for teaching Mandarin language for Mandarin non-speakers. In addition, she said there will also be an exchange program for scientific research and finalizing Chinese participation in the Omani Journal of Applied Sciences, according to Oman News Agency (ONA). On their turn, the Chinese delegation members expressed their preparedness to contribute in the Omani Journal of Applied Sciences. They also pointed out that the education system and conducting English research is available in the Chinese university. The delegation also encouraged the idea of establishing Confucius Institute branch in the Sultanate, as well as, organizing Chinese Cultural Day.
