The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Cairo has handed over 18 ambulances donated by the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) in support of health sector in Gaza Strip. Administrative Attache at the Embassy Khaled Mubarak, who escorted the convoy from the Suez Port up to the Rafah Crossing at the Egyptian-Palestinian borders, said the RCA allocated 10 ambulances for UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) and the rest for the Palestinian Red Crescent as part of the RCA"s relief campaign for Gaza Strip. The UAE news agency "WAM" quoted an Egyptian security source as saying that the Egyptian authorities had finalized formalities of delivery of the UAE medical assistance to Gaza Strip through the Rafah Border Crossing. He added that the vehicles arrived in El Arish city this morning and the Egyptian authorities had contacted the Palestinian side to allow them in the Strip. Omar Al Azayza, Administrator of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Gaza, paid rich tribute to the UAE for its continuous political and material support to the Palestinian people. He also credited the RCA for also offering assistance to the Palestinians, in particular to the Gazans. ""This donation is not the first of its kind as the UAE has extended huge food assistance and funds for rebuilding what the Israeli war machine has destroyed,"" he added. UNRWA Representative Khaled Al Habeel, who took delivery of the vehicles, expressed deep thanks to the leadership, government and people of the UAE for the valuable assistance.
