At least five people died Friday in a fire that ripped through a house in the west German town of Unna, according to dpa. Two people were injured in the blaze, which the 56-year-old owner of the house alerted the emergency services to shortly after 4.30 am (0330 GMT). The identity of those who died has not been established. However, police believe that they were all members of the same family. Police said they did not rule out more bodies being found in the gutted building, with a search under way for at least two more victims. The owner of the house had gone to bed early, police said, and did not know if more people arrived or others had already left. Three generations of the same family lived in the house, which is near the city of Dusseldorf. However, no children are thought to have died in the fire. Six people from the same family were registered as living the house, which included an apartment that been added to the building. However, up to about nine people were thought to have joined including family members from elsewhere in Germany. It took about 95 firemen to extinguish the fire, which also destroyed two cars parked in front of the house. An investigation was under way to determine the cause of the blaze.
