Six people were killed in two firecrackers-related fires in the Philippines, dpa quoted police and fire officials as saying Friday. Three people were killed before dawn Friday when a wayward firecracker hit a fireworks store in General Santos City, 1,065 kilometres south of Manila, said the city"s police chief, Senior Superintendent Marcelo Pintac. Pintac said two of the people died on the spot while another died upon arrival at hospital. Another person was being treated for burns. Late Thursday, three other people were killed when a fire razed 46 firecracker stalls in Mandaue City, 585 kilometres south of Manila, according to Chief Superintendent Rolando Badilla, head of the city"s fire department. Badilla said a pregnant woman and two boys, aged 7 and 8, died in the fire. The Mandaue incident was also caused by a wayward firecracker, which hit one of the stalls and started the fire that also burned nearby stalls, Badilla said.
