A 36-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman have frozen to death in the Czech Republic, bringing to eight the number of victims of a cold spell that began several days ago, police said Sunday according to dpa. The man succumbed to the freezing temperatures in Prague, while the woman died in the north-eastern city of Ostrava. An autopsy would be conducted to determine the exact cause of death in the woman"s case, an Ostrava police spokeswoman said. Since Wednesday, four other homeless people likely fell victim to the sub-zero temperatures in Ostrava. In three of those cases police are awaiting autopsy results. Another two men died as a result of sub-zero temperatures in the capital on Friday, Prague police have said. In recent days, temperatures have plummeted amid snowfall throughout Europe, causing traffic and rail disruptions.
