A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck southwest Tanzania early on Sunday morning but does not appear to have caused any damage, a regional police chief said. The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake"s epicenter was 84 miles (135 km) south of the town of Mbeya, at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 km). "At 0223 in the morning, there was an earthquake but up to this point, we have no reports of any damages or injuries," the regional police commander of Mbeya, Advocate Nyombi was quoted as saying by Reuters. A magnitude 6 quake is capable of causing severe damage.
