Incumbent president of Georgia"s disputed breakaway republic of Abkhazia, Sergei Bagapsh, has been re-elected, the election commission office said Sunday, according to dpa. The 60-year-old leader won 59.4 per cent of the vote in Saturday"s poll, according to the Interfax news agency, in what was the first presidential election in Abkhazia since Georgia and Russia went to war over the fate of the breakaway republic. The Georgian government has termed the entire election a "provocation," and called the result "illegitimate."
