Kuwaiti Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Sabah said Friday that Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah"s chairmanship of the next summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Kuwait mid-January would ensure a successful gathering. "The Emir"s chairmanship of the 30th Gulf summit would ensure the success and distinction of the gathering," he told KUNA in Riyadh. The Kuwaiti ambassador based his views on the fact that Sheikh Sabah was one of those who participated in the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in 1981 when he was still a foreign minister. Stressing the significance of the gathering entitled "Kuwait Summit and Gulf Ambition", the Kuwaiti ambassador voiced hope that it would come up with several resolutions and recommendations that could prop up inter-Gulf cooperation. The inter-GCC power grid project will be launched during the event, and other integration projects like a railway will be discussed, he said. The agenda of the two-day summit also involves economic, security, military, health, educational and environmental issues, he pointed out. The GCC foreign ministers are scheduled to meet quite ahead of the gathering in order to work out the agenda and a final communiqué.
