A water pipeline crashed down on a moving train in India"s western city of Mumbai Friday, killing the engine driver and a commuter, news reports said, according to dpa. At least 12 passengers were injured when the pipeline fell from an overhead bridge in the city"s north-eastern area of Thane, the IANS news agency reported. Some parts of the bridge also fell along with the pipeline and landed on top of one of the train"s coaches, forcing it off the tracks. The driver died after being trapped inside the engine compartment for several hours. The other casualty was a commuter, a railway spokesman told the IANS. Television images showed water gushing out of the pipeline atop the train as firefighters rescued passengers trapped inside. The accident occurred as work was under way to replace the pipeline with a new one, the NDTV network reported. A rescue and relief team of the railways and fire services were engaged in clearing the debris from the tracks. All services on the busy suburban route were suspended indefinitely after the accident, railway officials said. --SPA
