General Motors (GM) Corporation's North American sales chief is resigning as the automaker continues its effort to streamline operations and increase its declining market share, GM chief executive Fritz Henderson said Wednesday. Henderson, speaking from GM headquarters in Detroit, announced the departure of Mark LaNeve, the vice president of North American sales, in a conference call to update media and investors on the company's progress in the 90 days since it emerged from bankruptcy protection. Henderson said LaNeve's departure gives GM an opportunity to hire new talent for a different view on sales. “We would benefit from fresh perspectives,” he said.
