President Barack Obama summoned his top commander in Afghanistan to a 25-minute meeting aboard Air Force One before returning to Washington, according to AP. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says Obama invited Gen. Stanley McChrystal to meet him Friday in the Dutch capital, where the U.S. president was talking to the International Olympic Committee about a bid to hold the games in Chicago. Obama is reviewing his Afghan strategy, and his war council met Wednesday. He invited McChrystal to Copenhagen before the commander joined by video linkup. A day later, McChrystal told a London audience that insurgents are gaining strength and more troops will «buy time» for Afghan military and police forces to prepare to take control of the country in 2013.
