Five people were killed and two were injured in an explosion at a restaurant in south China's Guangdong Province early Wednesday, Xinhua quoted the local fire-fighting authority as saying. The blast occurred at about 5:50 a.m. in a kitchen at Jinguan Grand Restaurant, Humen Town, Dongguan City. An electrician and four cooks working at the site died, a provincial fire-fighting department official said. Two injured cooks were being treated in hospital, he said. An initial investigation found a leak from a two-cubic-meter oil tank in the kitchen and handling errors by maintenance staff caused the blast, he said. The fire was put out 30 minutes later.
