Red dust that blanketed Sydney this week has reached Auckland in New Zealand, 2,160 kilometres across the Tasman Sea, dpa quoted a weatherman as saying today. MetService forecaster Chris Noble said that weather observers at Auckland International Airport reported dust on the ground after seeing it cross the Tasman Sea in satellite images, behind a front that brought torrential rain and snow Thursday to most of the country. Noble said there had been reports of the dust landing in Taranaki province, 350 kilometres south of Auckland, the New Zealand Herald reported on its website.
