A small plane crashed near Durban's airport today morning, injuring three people aboard and one person on the ground, AP quoted police as saying. The plane had just taken off from Durban headed to nearby Pietermaritzburg about 7:30 a.m. (0530 GMT) when it went down on the grounds of a school, police spokesman Capt. Thulani Zwane said. The pilot, two passengers and a man on the ground were taken to a hospital, Zwane said. Schools were closed in South Africa on Thursday for a public holiday.
