U.S. President Barack Obama was briefed Monday on the latest efforts to prepare for the H1N1 swine-flu virus, which should re-emerge in the United States this month or in October. The briefing featured senior officials who outlined the government's ongoing efforts to respond to the new strain of influenza. Participants included Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden, and White House homeland security advisor John Brennan. Tuesday evening, Obama is hosting a Ramadan Iftar. The event in the White House's State Dining Room also will highlight the contributions of American Muslims.
