The Chairman of Gulf Transport Committee, an affiliate of Federation of Gulf Cooperation Gulf (GCC) Chambers of Commerce and Industry Abdulhakim Al-Shammari called on GCC customs departments to take extraordinary measures during the blessed month of Ramadan to facilitate the traffic of trucks through land ports. In a statement today, Al-Shammari who is also Member of Board of Directors of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that every year transport companies and exporters suffer losses amounting to millions of riyals due to delays in the procedures of goods through the GCC land ports, noting that some government agencies reduce working hours during the blessed month of Ramadan although movement of trade, import and export often remains at the same level.
