Five policemen were killed and one was wounded on Saturday in two attacks in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, police said, dpa reported. Three policemen were killed and a fourth was injured when a roadside bomb exploded as their patrol passed through the al-Ikhaa district of Mosul, police there told the German Press Agency dpa. In Mosul's al-Wehda district, militants fatally shot two other policemen on patrol, police said. Mosul and its environs, one of the most ethnically and religiously diverse areas of Iraq, remain the site of near-daily deadly attacks, despite successive security sweeps that police say have netted hundreds of suspected militants this year. -- SPA
