An Iranian-born man was sentenced to a two-year jail term and fined Friday for keeping his wife and four teenage and young adult children locked up at home and abusing them, reported the dpa. The district court in Uppsala, north-west of Stockholm, also ordered him to pay damages of some 370,000 kronor (52,000 dollars) to three of the four children, aged 16 to 22. According to the court, the children were not allowed to leave the flat between September 2003 and March 2004 and not allowed to attend school. One of the four children did not support the charges. The case was unravelled at the end of June when police officers were alerted to an altercation at the family's flat in Uppsala.
