Kuwaiti Ministry of Health on Saturday called on undersecretaries of GCC Ministries of Health for an extraordinary meeting to discuss the spread of the swine flu in the region, KUNA reported. The meeting is expected to address past recommendations made at meetings in Doha and Riyadh regarding joint GCC strategies to confront regional pandemics, said Dr. Yousef al-Nisf, spokesman for the ministry. The undersecretaries will also exchange views on preparations for the Hajj season and the opening of schools to receive students for the new school year, he said. Furthermore, they will compare notes on the best methods to deal with swine flu vaccines when they arrive in the region and the most effective ways to administer them without any foul-ups, Dr. al-Nisf said. He applauded current efforts by GCC health officials to head off any escalation in the spread of the swine flu in the area.
