Qatar Red Crescent Society began to implement the first stage of a construction project of 37 housing units in 10 Yemeni villages at "Terim and Sah" in Wadi Hadramaut, which were totally damaged by rains and floods that swept the region last October. According to a statement issued by Qatar Red Crescent Society yesterday, the first phase will last one year. The project's total cost is QR (Qatari Riyal) 2.590 million and with the average of QR 70.000 per housing unit, which consists of two rooms, a hall, a kitchen and a bathroom to be built over an approximate area of 60 square meters. Concrete materials were used in the construction of the housing units which will replace the common mud buildings. Qatar Red Crescent has identified the families benefiting from the project based on a social study. Qatar Red Crescent Society has adopted this project in collaboration with the Association of Charitable Social Reform in Yemen, which will monitor the project's implementation. Since the floods which hit Yemen in October, Qatar Red Crescent Society has provided assistance and emergency relief to nearly 500 affected families, according to a report of Qatar News Agency (QNA).
