Kurdish rebels killed one Turkish soldier in their first armed attack since the government said it planned to pass pro-Kurdish reforms, state news agency Anatolian said on Saturday. A member of the Kurdish separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) was also killed, and one soldier was wounded in the attack on a military unit in the southern province of Hatay, Reuters reported. The armed attack comes as the government prepares to announce a series of measures aimed at reducing years of problems between the Turkish state and its Kurdish population.
