Mobile phone manufacturer Motorola on Thursday reported that it managed a slight profit in the second quarter of 2009, although sales continued to drop, according to dpa. The Schaumburg, Illinois-based company, surprising analysts who were expecting further losses, said it achieved a 26 million dollar net profit thanks to cost-cutting efforts. In the same quarter last year Motorola had managed a 4 million dollar profit. Motorola said the gain came despite sales turnover plunging 32 per cent year on year to 5.5 billion dollars.
