An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted West Papua province on Sunday but there was no immediate report of casualties or material damage, ANTARA reported. The epicenter of the quake which struck at 09.58 a.m. was in the sea 156 km southeast of Kaimana, West Papua, at a depth of 10 km beneath the sea level, according to a report from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The epicenter was also about 158 km northeast of Tual, Maluku province, 247 km southwest of Nabire, Papua province, or 304 km southeast of Fak-Fak, West Papua, the agency said. But the trembler did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, the agency said.
