Riyadh newspaper said the gap is widening between the developed world and the other world which faces the menace of internal disputes and enmity with the external world and at the same time has been spending its potentialities on purchase of weapons and on security and intelligence purposes at the expense of the national development. "The west has set up new factories for weapons and was involved in two world wars. Moreover, the west has developed its military and nuclear capabilities for expanding its influence and hegemony on the developing countries. Even when the world was divided into a communist east and a European-American west, that was followed by a psychological war instead of using the destructive weapons which might have destroyed the entire world. At the summit of G-8 there was a call from banning weapons of mass-destruction and that the call coincided with an American-Russian agreement to reduce their nuclear arsenal. This development stands as a witness for the awareness and realization of the world to the importance of investing in the domains of economy and technology as well as in energy and combating pollution rather than in weapons. But the third world does not develop its resources for human development and enter the field of production and innovation and scientific progress". The paper said " It seems that the west after terrible experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan has realized the menace of wars and their adverse impact on the mankind. The agreement of the G-8 summit for proceeding on the path of peace contradicts with the trends of several third world countries for armament and remaining doomed to poverty and backwardness".
