Imam of Haram and lecturer of Islamic higher studies at Ummal Qura university Dr Abdul-Rahman al-Sudais said Tuesday the approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to establish a chair for 'Hisbah" at King Saud University constitutes a great support to the General Presidency for Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (CPVPV) and would enable it perform its noble mission in a satisfactory manner. He noted that ritual of promotion of virtue and prevention of vice is one of the pillars of the Kingdom since the era of King Abdulaziz. The trend for establishing chairs of scientific research embodies the belief of the Kingdom's rulers on the importance of the role of knowledge for building the civilization of their nation. Sheikh Al-Sudais said this chair will positively contribute to boosting the role of CPVPV, adding that this development will be the best reply to those who criticize CPVPV and its officials. The process of promotion of virtue and prevention of vice is a great mission because it is the mission of the Prophets and venerable forefathers. He noted that giving up this noble mission will lead to spread of corruption and evil acts in a manner that causes the anger of Allah Almighty. Dr Al-Sudais praised the reaffirmation of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister, for the respect of CPVPV and to avoid exaggeration if it commit a mistake because it is like any other department whose personnel are prone to make mistakes.
