based Al-Watan said the assassination of Somalia's National Security Minister and Chief of the police of Mogadishu in addition to killing of tens of military personnel and civilians last week, clearly prove that the Somalian crisis has been further aggravated and is turning more bloody. The situation has become more gloomy with the escalation of confrontation between the Islamic militias and the governmental forces, the daily noted. Several regional ad international parties have exerted efforts to enhance the pillars of the national reconciliation in the country but certain quarters are still keen on undermining the country's security and stability despite the peace initiatives presented by the government of Sheikh Shareef Ahmad. The Somalian crisis has become a nightmare notably with the killing of more civilians including women and children and displacement of people who are fleeing the war woes, the daily pointed out. The daily believes that the settlement of the crisis requires meeting so many conditions including the neutrality of Ethiopia and Eritrea in addition to strengthening the current government and enhancing the African peacekeeping forces. "Moreover, the settlement needs polarization of the moderate Islamic elements and broadening the base of the government," said the daily urging the UN, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Arab League to shoulder their responsibility towards the salvation of Somalia.
