Saudi Newspapers, in their editorials today, affirmed that intensive efforts that are currently exerted by the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz and U.S. President Barack Obama to bring about peace, security and harmony around the world, especially in the Middle East region, are highly laudable and received due attention and support from all peace-loving countries. In an editorial entitled 'the Kingdom and the peace efforts', the Makkah-based Al-Nadwa said the meeting recently held by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and US President Barack Obama have started to yield positive results as regards bringing about peace to the region. The speech delivered by President Obama in Cairo indicates a transparent change in the Islamic-American relations, said the daily. It believed that the visit of Obama's Envoy Senator George Mitchell to the region clearly showed the great attention being extended by the US President to the peace process, said the paper, adding that Mitchell will meet with Mahmoud Abbas, the Head of the Palestinian Authority, after his meeting with the Israeli officials. The tour of Mitchell aims at accelerating talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis, the daily noted. As Obama is planning to settle the problem on the basis of two-state formula, the concerned authorities should pay the prices of peace, notably Israel in its capacity as the aggressor and usurper of the Palestinian rights. The matters are progressing steadily towards peace in an unprecedented manner, and this makes it necessary for the Arabs to unify their ranks as King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz called earlier at Kuwait economic summit, the daily elaborated. It also underscored the importance of unifying the Palestinian ranks and hoped that the ongoing efforts in Egypt to unite the Palestinian ranks would be culminated into success. --MORE
