The Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council welcomed the historic visit paid by United states President Barack Obama to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and his meeting with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. The council praised the important results of the visit and its positive implications which lays solid basis for the start of a new stage of more realization of the region's issues and more serious and justice in dealing with and finding just solutions for them especially the emphasis on the Arab Peace Imitative according to the two-state solution and demanding Israel to stop all forms of settlements in the Palestinian lands. This came in a statement read by Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Abdulrahman Ala'ateyah in a press conference held in Riyadh with participation of Oman's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Current Session of the Ministerial Council Yosif bin A'lawi bin Abdullah following the conclusion of the 111th ministerial meeting of the GCC. Ala'ateyah said, "The Ministerial Council valued the historic speech delivered by President Barack Obama from Cairo University to the Islamic world." Ala'ateyah added that the council hopes the coming months will witness urgent and serious moves to translate the new comforting approaches and policies to a living reality. Ala'ateyah said the council reviewed GCC developments and regional and international political issues including the Palestinian issue, the situation in Iraq, the relations with Iran and the crisis of the Iranian nuclear file as well as developments of economic relations and dialogue between the GCC and friendly countries and economic groups. --More
