The head of the United Nations' worldwide peacekeeping missions said on Wednesday that Israel should withdraw its troops from the Lebanese side of Gujhar, which it has occupied since 2006. There have been conflicting reports that Israel is withdrawing but Alain Le Roy said no official decision had been made. “Although there have been different declarations, no public decision has been announced so far but it's very clear that the sooner the better,” said Le Roy who recently returned from a trip to the Middle East. He also said he was “impressed” by the work of the U.N.'s peacekeeping mission in Lebanon and in particular that no soldiers have been killed at the Lebanon-Israel border since 2006. “The cooperation between our forces and Lebanese forces is extremely well and it is clear that the civilian population is very pleased with our forces too,” said Le Roy
