Turkey confirmed the first case of swine flu in the country Saturday, saying the virus was detected in a man who had traveled to Istanbul from the United States. The Health Ministry said the man had arrived in Istanbul via Amsterdam and was heading to Iraq. Thermal cameras installed at Istanbul airport detected the man had high fever, according to the ministry. The man was put under observation at Istanbul's Haseki hospital. A lab later detected the H1N1 virus, the formal name for swine flu. Meanwhile, a report of Associated Press datelined New Delhi said India has also confirmed its first case of swine flu in a man who arrived in the country on a flight from New York. The Health Ministry says the 23-year-old man was identified as suffering flu symptoms after landing at the airport in the southern city of Hyderabad and put in isolation. The ministry said in a statement Saturday that he tested positive for the A (H1N1) influenza strain.
