The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has approved a grant of $1 million to UNICEF in line with the recommendation submitted by the Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, who is also the Supervisor General of the Saudi Committee for the relief of the Afghan people, in response to UNICEF's request for the project of eradicating polio in Afghanistan through the Saudi committee. In line with the directives of Prince Naif, Dr Sa'ed al-Harethi, the advisor to the interior minister and head of the Saudi committee for the relief of the Afghan people, signed today an agreement with UNICEF in this respect. Dr al-Harethi said the agreement aims at vaccinating more than 95 percent of the Afghan children in cooperation with the UNICEF during this year.
