Saudi Deputy Minister of Labor Dr Abdel-Wahid Al-Humeid underlined Monday the significance of the annual conference of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO), currently in progress here. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency, Dr Al-Humeid, who leads the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the conference, said the importance of the conference stems from the fact that it is convened at a time when the world faces economic crisis. This conference is the first official Arab meeting for following up the decisions of Kuwait economic summit, he said, noting that the economic crisis will have an adverse impact on the labor market. Dr Al-Humeid said the Arab world is in need of about 5.5 million jobs annually while the available job opportunities don't exceed 3.5 million annually, and this figure is likely to decline further. --MORE
