Rakban, the Dean of the Institute, said the organization of the conference would positively contribute to enriching scientific research works. He noted that the conference will review issues pertaining to Nano Technology including means for treatment of water, environment and energy and other related topics. On his part, Dr Abdullah Al-Othman, the Rector of King Saud University, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Dr Abdulaziz Al-Ruweis, the under secretary of the university, said the institute is one of the visions of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. He noted that the King has been giving utmost attention to Nano Technology because it has a direct impact on the economies of the modern world notably the knowledge economy. Dr Al-Othman highlighted the generous support being extended to the University by the Kingdom's Leaders. He pointed out that the Institute will attain significant development in the field of Nano Technology in a manner that the Kingdom will become one of the important references in the field of this technology. On his part Deputy Executive President of the Chinese academy professor Chinli Bia said the conference will provide a good opportunity to get acquainted with the latest advances in nano technology. He noted that nano science is one of the promising ways for the development of technology in the 21st century. Later, Dr al-Nafeesa opened the exhibition organized on the fringes of the conference. The show displays products pertaining to Nano Technology.
