A market rally today settled back into low gear, trimming early gains on Wall Street in a mixture of ups and downs, UPI reported. U.S. markets posted big gains Tuesday and Thursday, but managed only a nominal lift after surging today. In early afternoon trading, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 18.32 points, or 0.26 percent, to 7,188.38. The Standard & Poor's 500 gained 0.21 percent, 1.58 points, to 752.32. The Nasdaq composite index fell 0.18 percent, 2.57 points, to 1,423.53. The benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury bond fell 3/32 to yield 2.876 percent. The euro fell to $1.2896, compared to Thursday's $1.2927. Against the Japanese yen, the dollar rose to 98.05 yen, compared to Thursday's 97.62 yen.
