On behalf of Prince Miteb bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Jeddah Mayor Adel Fakieh inaugurated yesterday the 20th Environmental Health Forum. The five-day forum is being held to tackle various issues related to environmental protection and general hygiene, said Deputy Mayor for Services Khalid Aqil. The latest technology in waste management and the role of municipalities in this will also be discussed at the forum, according to a report published today by the Jeddah-based Arab News. “The forum will concentrate on technical regulations for the use of insecticides, their dangers and how to prevent them,” said Aqil. He added that the achievements of the municipalities of Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah in managing landfills and recycling waste in an environment friendly fashion would be highlighted at the event. --MORE
