The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has strongly condemned the assassination of GuineaBissau's President, Joao Bernardo Vieira. Expressing his deep concern over the tragic incident and its possible consequences on the peace, stability and development of Guinea-Bissau, the Secretary General called upon the concerned authorities of this OIC Member State to spare no effort in respecting the rule of law, maintaining tranquility and peace, and bringing the perpetrators of this criminal act to justice. Prof. Ihsanoglu while expressing his condolences to the family of the assassinated President, further appealed to the people and all those who have legal responsibility in Guinea-Bissau to unify ranks at this critical and difficult situation and work towards preserving the unity, stability and security of the country, according to a latest press release of the OIC.
