Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is meeting with King Juan Carlos at the start of a two-day visit to Spain to boost economic and political ties. Medvedev is traveling with business leaders and will meet with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero later Monday and again Tuesday, Associated Press reported. A Spanish government statement says during the trip Medvedev will discuss Russia's relations with the European Union and NATO and other issues such as the international financial crisis and bilateral ties. The two are also to sign an agreement allowing Spain to transport military material and personnel through Russian territory to its troops stationed in Afghanistan.
