The significance of the trial is stemming from the fact that assassination should never be the proper way for liquidation of the political enmity. "Moreover, the culprits should never feel that they are above the law and can escape punishment". It is true that the trial targets the assassins of Hariri, but it also means the trial of all political crimes in Lebanon which have led to the killing of a number of politicians, ministers and media men. The trial is also a strong-worded message for avoiding turning the political differences into means of getting rid of opponents.
