Two missiles believed to have been fired from a US drone Sunday on a militant hideout in Pakistan's restive tribal region near the Afghan border killed at least nine people, an intelligence official said to dpa. Twelve people were injured in the attack that took place in the Sararogha area of the tribal district South Waziristan, a known sanctuary for Taliban and al-Qaeda militants launching cross border attacks on US-led international forces in Afghanistan. "The missiles demolished the house of a local tribesman Botal Khan, who is a Taliban supporter," said an intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity. Some of those killed are believed to be foreigners, a term used to refer to al-Qaeda linked fighters with Arabic or Central Asian origin, he added. Following the attack dozens of Taliban militants rushed to the scene and sealed off the area. The US in recent months have carried out more than 30 drone attacks in Pakistan's tribal areas, eliminating dozens of Taliban and al-Qaeda militants, including some key leaders.
